French Roulette

Roulette is a game that was created in France, so you could technically argue that French roulette is the most authentic variant. The betting table does have a slightly different layout though. So, how does it differ from the European version? Well, there are two additional rules and these are En Prison and La Partage.

La Partage: If you make an even bet for the ball to land on red or black or odd or even, and it lands on the green zero, then you will be given half of your stake back.

En Prison: You are not obliged to take half of your wager back - if you want, you can leave it on the table for your next spin of the wheel. Your stake is now in prison, which is obviously where the name derives from. If you go on to win during your next spin, you get your full stake, not only half of it. However, if you go on to lose during your next spin, you will lose the whole of your bet.

What Are the Different Roulette Bet Types

When it comes down to roulette betting, there are two types of bets, and these are inside bets and outside bets. If you make an outside bet, then you are putting your cash on a large bunch of numbers such as odd or even, red or black, or 1-18 and 19-36. If, on the other hand, you go for an inside bet, then you are putting your money on a single number or a small bunch of numbers. Inside bets are trickier to win than outside bets, but the profits will be a lot higher.

• Columns: There are three different columns on the layout with 12 numbers on them. If you place a bet on a column and the ball lands on one of the numbers, then there is a 2:1 payout.
• Dozens: The 36 numbers that can be found on the layout are split into three dozen, which are 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36. Whenever the ball lands on one of the numbers from the dozen that you have chosen, you will receive a 2:1 payout.

Inside Bets

• Straight-up: You put your cash on one number and if the ball lands on that number, you will get a 35:1 payout.
• Split bet: You choose two numbers that are next to each other on the wheel and if that little ball stops on one of your numbers, there is a payout of 17:1.
• Corner bet: You bet on four numbers in a group and if you predict correctly, you will receive a payout of 8:1.
• Street bet: You choose three numbers from one row and if the ball lands on a number that you selected, you will be given a 11:1 payout.
• Five number bet: This type of wager can only be made in American roulette. With this type of bet, you put money on the ball stopping on zero, double zero, one, two, or three. There is a 6:1 payout for this bet.
• Line bet: Here you put your money on two lines that are adjacent to each other. If the ball stops on one of your six numbers, you will receive a 5:1 payout.
